Setting up your Outlook

How to set up Outlook 2000

  1. With Outlook 2000 open, select Tools from the top menu bar.
  2. Select Accounts from the drop down menu. The following window will open:Accounts
  3. Highlight the Xynapse account and click Properties. The following window will open Make sure your Name and E-mail Address information appear in the appropriate locations, and that "mail.xynapse.ca" is listed in Mail Account location. Ensure that "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing" is checked. Properties
  4. Click on the Servers tab. The following window will open: Servers Make sure the "mail.Xynapse.ca" appears in the Incoming and Outgoing locations. Ensure your email address is entered correctly in the Account name field, and your password is correctly entered in the Password field. Be sure the "My server requires authentication" is checked.
     
  5. Select the Settings… button. The following window will open Settings Ensure your settings are as indicated above and click on Ok. You will be returned to the Servers information page.
     
  6. Select the Connection tab at the top of the window. The following page is displayed: Connection If you are using a Bell DSL modem or a Cogeco cable modem, ensure your settings are as indicated above.
     
  7. Click on the Advanced tab. The following page is displayed: Advanced Ensure your settings match those indicated above. This will enable secure (SSL) communication between your Outlook email program and our mail server. Click on OK and you will be returned to the Internet Accounts page. Accounts
  8. Click Close, then close and restart Outlook. If a problem still persists, please contact Xynapse IT Support Services with the appropriate error information.
